Cock hen chicken on a farm in Canterbury

This handsome cock hen chicken was posing for our camera on a farm in Canterbury, New Zealand. A male chicken is called a rooster or cock and think they are king of the farm. The cock can be seen early morning crowing to the sunrise and then prance around all day showing off their beautiful colouring. The cock is only kept on the farm for breeding with the female chicken, they are not used for chicken meat as they are tough and chewy. The feathers on the rooster are much more beautiful than those on the female chicken and the cock also has the red ' comb ' on top his head.
